Why is the Apple Watch the Ultimate Travel Watch? Before answering that question in this Apple Watch Review, let’s start with how cheap I am when it comes to what I consider expensive purchases.
Any purchase that’s more than $250 is expensive to me. The Apple Watch retails for $280 so I had to convince myself why it made sense to spend that amount of cash.
Apple Watch Review
Before deciding to spend nearly $300 on a watch, I considered a few factors that I’ll show in this Apple Watch Review on why this watch made more sense than other fitness watches.
The first factor was performance. What metrics can the Apple Watch measure, and of those metrics, are they important to me?
Another important factor was aesthetics. How does the Apple Watch look on my wrist? Does it impede my movement when I’m working out?
Customer service was the last factor that I considered in my buying decision. Will Apple’s customer service be there for me when I need them?
To sum up, the factors that are important to me may be different for you, but I found it important to think about them up front.
Apple Watch Specs
Width: The watch comes in two different widths. I opted for the larger of the two because it looked the most proportional on my wrist in the Apple store.
Watchbands: Apple offers a multitude of watchbands but I found that the stock fluoroelastomer material works great.
Interface: I love how Apple designed this watch. You have a ton of watch face options that compliment the watch apps that you can select from the Home screen.
Usability: I’m sure other fitness watches are easy to maneuver, however, the Apple watch is super easy. I’ve never had a problem accessing any of the fitness metrics, settings, or apps when I need them.
Aesthetic: Garmin makes a slick looking watch called the Fenix 5 that I recommend checking out. I’d put its design up there with the Apple Watch.
Durability: I think Garmin takes the cake on this one for a number of reasons. The most important reason is that the Apple Watch scratches easily and the screen can shatter. From what I’ve read and heard, it’s more difficult to scratch and break the Garmin.
Price: $280 is steep for a fitness watch but I believe it’s warranted with the Apple Watch. I’ve had minimal performance issues with the watch since I purchased it roughly 12 months ago.
Fitness: One could argue that Garmin or Fitbit offers better metrics. The metrics Apple offers are sufficient for what I, and would assume most people, need. Sleep tracking is the one area where the watch comes up short.
Apple Watch Recommendation
The $280 price tag is not in most people’s budget. With that said, if you have the means and are looking for a fitness watch that packs a punch, hopefully this Apple Watch Review convinced you of its value.
Apple’s interface, aesthetic, usability, and fitness are the reasons why you should pick up this watch. I also appreciate the fact that Apple has solid customer service if anything goes wrong with your product.
If durability and/or price are the most important, I’d look elsewhere as there are better options. For durability, check out what Garmin has to offer. For price, Fitbit may be the most affordable option.
