Asia always feels like a popular destination for US-based travelers. Not only is the food insanely delicious, but the people are generally welcoming and there are endless experiences to take in. If you fall in the camp of needing a comfortable award flight to Asia, look no further than Korean Air business class. This airline is generally considered on par with other top Asian airlines like ANA, Asiana, and Japan Airlines.

One of the main drawbacks about both the SkyTeam Alliance (Korean Air is a member) and Korean Air is how challenging it can be to earn miles to book SkyTeam award flights. Unfortunately, Korean Air only partners with Marriott. So, transferring points from Marriott to Korean Air is likely one of the most efficient ways to book Korean Air business class for US travelers.

Credit Cards Points to Earn to Book Korean Air

Korean Air doesn’t partner with fan-favorite credit card programs like Amex, Capital One, Chase, and Citi. Marriott is the only partner that allows you to transfer your points to Korean Air to book award flights. Marriott points transfer in up to 48 hours at a 3:1 ratio to Korean Air. With every 60,000 Marriott points you transfer to an airline partner, you receive a 5,000-mile bonus.

Co-branded Korean Air credit cards are another way to earn SkyPass miles. US Bank issues Korean Air credit cards that earn miles directly with your spending. These cobranded Korean Air cards can be a great way to supplement the points you transfer in from Marriott Bonvoy. However, it’s important to note the earn rates on these co-branded credit cards aren’t great.
